The former general secretary of the Chhatra League was killed while fleeing to India


Ishaq Ali Khan Panna, former General Secretary of Chhatra League, passed away. He died of a heart attack while climbing Shillong Hills in Meghalaya while escaping to India. This incident happened on Friday midnight.

Panna's death was confirmed on Saturday by a close relative based in Kolkata, India. This close person, who did not want to reveal his name, said that after the fall of the Awami League government, Panna wanted to escape to India after hiding for some time. He crossed the border and climbed a hill in Meghalaya state's Shillong around 12 pm on Friday. He suffered a heart attack while trying to cross the mountain. This is how he died.

However, different information has been found about Panna's death. Some say he slipped and died while climbing the mountain.

Panna's elder brother's brother-in-law Jasim Uddin Khan. Panna had a close relationship with him. Jasim said that he had spoken to Panna on the phone three days ago. On July 25, he reached home in Pirojpur city and returned two days later.

According to the information given by Jasim, they came to know through various channels that Panna entered India through the Tamabil border in Sylhet. He died there. They could not be sure whether it was due to the bullet or stroke. Learned that his dead body is in a police station on the Indian side of the border.

Laekuzzaman Mintu, Chairman of Chirapar Saturia Union Parishad of Pannar Bhagane and Kaukhali, gave the same information.

A different source says that Aminul Islam Amin, the relief and social welfare secretary of the newly deposed Awami League, was with Panna while fleeing to India. However, to confirm the matter, Amin's mobile and WhatsApp numbers were found to be closed. Another source says that there was a leader of Jhalkathi Chhatra League along with Panna.

However, no specific information was received from the police in this regard. There was no statement about Panna's body being brought back to the country.

Ishaq Ali Khan Panna was in hiding since Sheikh Hasina left the country on August 5. On the same day, his house on Paderhat Road in Pirojpur was vandalized and set on fire. Pannar's village house is in Bekutia village of Kaukhali upazila of Pirojpur. However, he does not travel much to the village house. When he went to Pirojpur, he stayed in the city house.

Ireen Parveen Bandhan, wife of Ishaq Ali Panna, died of cancer on 24 April 2016 at the age of 45. After that, Panna did not marry again.

Panna was elected general secretary in the 1994 conference of Awami League's fraternal organization Chhatra League. AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, the president elected at that conference, was alternately the organizing secretary of Awami League, MP and deputy minister several times, but Panna was always outside of these. Panna was nominated by Awami League from Pirojpur-2 constituency in the 2008 elections. Later he had to leave due to 14-party alliance elections. This former Chhatra League leader was the chairman of insurance company Diamond Life Insurance Company Limited in his professional life.
