The High Court has ordered Mehdi Hasan alias Zayed, the child of the woman who died in a tragic road accident in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, to be given custody to her uncle.
The High Court bench of Justice MR Hasan and Justice Fahmida Quader Chowdhury passed the order on Monday.
Advocate Manzil Morsed confirmed the matter.
The child and his mother were victims of a road accident in Square Masterbari area at around 3 o'clock on May 9. However, it is not known how the road accident happened. After receiving a 999 call, the police rescued the child and his mother in an injured condition and took them to the Bear Health Complex, where the doctor sent them to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Mother died there.
When the incident went viral on social media as the atmosphere became heavy with the screams of the child who lost her mother, netizens were in a frenzy. Later on Saturday (May 11) at 11 o'clock in the night, the police officer of Valuka Highway Police Station said. Babul Hossain told the media that the identity of the mother who died in the road accident and the surviving child were found. Mother's name is Zayda (32).
He is a resident of Khushiura village of Duara upazila of Sylhet Sunamganj district. Daughter of Ramiz Uddin. The surviving one-and-a-half-year-old child is Zahid Hossain.
This police officer also said that the resident of Kapasia village of Kapasia upazila. Zayeda's second marriage was with Farooq Mia. Farooq is the son of local resident Kofil Uddin. Farooq has three children with his first wife. Because of this Zayda's marriage was not accepted by Farooq's family. As a result, Zayda lived with her child Zahid in Square Masterbari area as her husband was not in contact. It is believed that he suffered this accident while crossing the road on the day and night of the incident.
The elder brother of deceased Zayeda. Robin Mia said, they got the news of Zayda's death through Facebook. Currently, the child is being treated in ward number 26 of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
The matter was brought to the attention of the court by senior lawyer Manzil Morsed. He said that the court has given the order in consideration.
The police of Mymensingh have been directed to properly investigate the case filed in Bhaluka, identify the responsible vehicle and arrest those concerned. A progress report with necessary information has been asked to be submitted to the court on May 20. The concerned DIG will supervise the matter. RAB DG will take action to arrest the accused. As there are no other claims, the child has been ordered to be temporarily handed over to his uncle for care and custody. The child should be treated better. The concerned court has been asked to file and settle an application regarding the guardianship of the child.
