'The main challenge is to improve the law and order situation'


The main challenge now is to improve the law and order situation, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

He said this to reporters after a meeting with UN Resident Coordinator Gwen Lewis in his office at the Secretariat on Monday (August 19).

The advisor said, our main challenge in the Ministry of Home Affairs is law and order, the law and order situation can be improved as soon as possible.

He said, I am in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture, there my aim is how to increase production and feed people more.

Before this, he met with the UN Resident Coordinator, Gwen Lewis.

Regarding the meeting, the Home Affairs Adviser said, in this situation, what kind of assistance can they give us? We have basically talked about that. It was also discussed that we want cooperation in any sector.

He said, they are cooperating with Rohingyas, we have asked for more cooperation. One and a half million Rohingya, their children are growing every day, expenses are increasing. How long can we afford this cost!

The adviser also said that they will send the fact-finding mission that is supposed to come from the United Nations. In that case, what kind of cooperation they will give us, what kind of cooperation we want – these have been discussed.

The Home Affairs Adviser also said that the United Nations Fact Finding Machine may come to Bangladesh next week.
