The media worker's body was recovered from Hatirjheel, said Joy

The body of private television reporter Rahanuma Sarah (32) was recovered from Hatirjheel in the capital. Sajib Wazed Joy, son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, gave a Facebook status on Wednesday (August 28) around 10 am.

Sajib Wazed Joy writes, 'Gazi TV newsroom editor Sarah Rahanuma was found dead. His body was recovered from Hatirjheel lake in Dhaka. This is another brutal attack on freedom of expression in Bangladesh. Ghazi TV is a secular news channel. whose owner Golam Dastgir Gazi has been arrested recently.

Earlier on Tuesday (August 27) the local people recovered the body of Rahanuma Sarah at half past two in the morning. Hatirjheel police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Saiful Islam confirmed the matter.

He said, Rahanuma Sarah is a journalist of G-TV. At around half past two in the night, some locals saw him jumping into Hatirjheel. Later, he was rescued unconscious and taken to Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

The OC also said that the matter has been informed to the father of the deceased Rahanuma Sarah. Further legal action will be taken after talking to his father.

Meanwhile, Sara gave a status on her Facebook with a person named Fahim Faisal with the location of Raju Bhaskarya of Dhaka University on Tuesday.
