The moon has been sighted, after 2 months holy Ramadan begins

The moon of the holy month of Rajab has been seen in the sky of the Middle East. As a result, the month of Ramadan will begin two months from today. Now if the month of Rajab is 29 days and the month of Sha'ban is 30 days, then there will be only 60 or 61 days left before the start of the holy month of Ramadan. But in the end, the starting day of Ramadan will be determined based on the sighting of the moon.

According to a report by Golf News, Ramadan is likely to start from February 18 next year in most countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia. Accordingly, the first day of Ramadan in South Asian countries including Bangladesh may be on February 19. However, if the moon is not seen on that day, Ramadan will start one day later.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh News Agency (BASS) reported that a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee will be held on Sunday (December 21) under the leadership of Religion Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain. After the meeting, an official announcement will be made about whether the moon of the holy month of Rajab has been sighted in the country.

On this occasion, the Islamic Foundation said, if the moon of the holy month of Rajab is seen somewhere in the sky of the country, it has been requested to inform the telephone numbers 02-41053294, 02-226640510 and 02-223383397 or to inform the district administrator or upazila executive officer of the concerned district.

It should be noted that in Islam, these four months – Rajab, Zilqad, Zilhaj and Muharram – are considered as special or Haram months. Ceasefire is prohibited in these months. According to Arab culture, at this time people spent time in self-purification and rest, refraining from war-dispute and injustice-crime.

The night of 26th of Rajab is very significant for Muslims. It was on this glorious night that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) went to Meraj and returned with the order of five daily prayers for the Ummah.
