The price of fish and meat has not reduced even half during Ramadan

The price of everyday products is not known to decrease. While some relief has returned to vegetable prices since last week, other commodities are skyrocketing. Even though half of the fasting period has passed, the prices of fish and meat are still high.

Apart from this, prices of rice, dal, flour, flour, potato and oil have also stabilized at higher prices. The lower and middle classes are constantly suffering.

Meanwhile, the government has taken various initiatives to control product prices, but its benefits are not meeting much in the market. 29 in Roja determine the rational price of the goods. Most of these products still have to be bought at a premium. Such a picture can be seen in Malibagh, Rampura and Caravan Bazaar of the capital.

Broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 210 to Tk 220 per kg in the market. The price of golden chicken is 310 to 330 taka. However, the Agriculture Marketing Department had fixed the retail price of broiler chicken at 175 rupees per kg and golden chicken price at 262 rupees.

Meanwhile, as per the price fixed by the Department of Agriculture Marketing, beef is expected to retail at Rs 664 per kg. But beef is being sold at Tk 730 to Tk 780 per kg in the market.

On the other hand, in various markets of the capital yesterday, cultivated cotton fish was sold at Tk 350 to Tk 400 per kg. Depending on the size, the price of pangas and tilapia fish was Tk 200 to Tk 250 per kg. The price of farmed fish is 250 to 300 taka.

The prices of fish sold in the market from natural sources are beyond the reach of common buyers. The price of Ai, Desi Shol and Magur is Tk 700 to Tk 800 per kg. The price of hilsa weighing more than 500 grams is 1000 taka per kg.

However, vendors say the fish market fluctuates daily. One day the price goes down a little but the next day it goes up. According to the market price list of the government organization Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the price of hilsa fish has increased in the space of a week, while the price of roe fish has remained unchanged. Apart from this, the price of beef, beef and broiler chicken has also increased.

In this regard, Golam Rahman, president of consumer organization Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB), said, 'The government's initiative to fix the price was good. But from the beginning we had doubts about how much it would be possible to implement. Because, if the fixed price is not effective, the buyer has no benefit.
