Slovakian news agency TASR quoted parliamentary vice-chairman Lubos Blaha as saying that Robert was shot and wounded. Four shots were fired at his car. One of them hit Robert.

Slovakia's emergency services said they dispatched a helicopter to reports that a 59-year-old man had been shot in the body.

Last year, Robert came to power as the prime minister of the Central European country for the fourth time. Slovakia is a member of the European Union and the Western military alliance NATO.
