A pile of dead bodies in a van. The police are lifting another body in that van – a video like this has gone viral on social media Facebook. Since the video went viral, there has been a lot of criticism on social media.
It is known that this video spread on Facebook is of Ashulia police station in Savar. Seeing a poster in the video, it was confirmed that the incident was from Ashulia police station. Apart from this, yesterday morning at around 10 am in front of the Ashulia police station, the exact match of the video that went viral on social media was found.
Earlier on Friday (August 30), the video went viral on social media throughout the day. The video is initially believed to have been captured from the second floor of the building in front of the Ashulia police station.
In the 1 minute and 14 second video that went viral, two policemen are seen holding the body, one by the hand and one by the leg, and throwing the body into the van. Before that, they piled the bodies in the van and covered them with cloth. Finally the body is lifted and covered with a banner. Later, the presence of some policemen was seen.
At 1 minute 6 seconds of the video, a poster can be seen, which is of Dhamsona Union President of the local Jubo League and member candidate of 9th Chouraward, Abul Hossain. By looking at that poster, it is confirmed that the scene of the video is near Ashulia police station.
Going to the spot, it can be seen that the wall on the right side is exactly the same as the video while crossing Thana Road through the back road of Ashulia Press Club and going towards the SB office. There's still that poster on the wall. The incident is believed to have taken place at the intersection towards the SB office from the highway towards the police station.
However, despite talking to several tenants of that house, they did not know about the video. It is known that since the morning of August 5, the anti-discrimination quota agitators started gathering in the bypile area of Nabinagar-Chandra highway. The protestors surrounded the police station on the news of Sheikh Hasina resigning and leaving the country. At this time, the police surrendered with the microphone and hand mic of the mosque. Even after the surrender, the agitators continued to advance towards the police station. At that time the police started firing. Then they closed the shop and moved to a safe place.
When I tried to talk to several policemen of Ashulia police station, none of them opened their mouths. However, a local resident, who did not wish to be named, said that the incident happened around 4 pm. He was present there at that time. When the protesters tried to attack the police station, the police fired indiscriminately. However, he said that he did not see the incident of the bodies being piled in the van.
When asked about this, Dhaka District Police Superintendent Ahmed Mueen said, I saw the video this morning. It is being analyzed. As you work in the media, if you have any information or sources, please help us.
