The water of Muhuri river in Feni is below the flood limit

A news spread on social media yesterday afternoon that the water of Muhuri, Kahua and Silonia rivers in Feni of Chittagong is rising and there is a risk of flooding in the district again. However, the news is not completely true and there is no reason to panic, said those concerned.

According to Water Development Board sources, the water level in the river has increased slightly due to rain, nothing to panic. The water of Muhuri river is flowing 350 cm below the Vipatseema at Parasuram point.

Abul Kashem, sub-divisional engineer of Feni Water Development Board, said that there is no need to panic as the river water has increased slightly.

Earlier, these floods were caused by Indian upwelling water. All the upazilas of Feni were affected by the third round of floods last August. More than 12 lakh people were trapped in water. 29 people lost their lives in the flood.
