Three people, including an Awami League leader from Khulna, were shot dead by miscreants wearing helmets during a chat at a tea shop in Jessore's Abhaynagar.
The incident took place at a tea shop in the Rajghat area of the upazila at around 9 pm on Friday (April 12). They have been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
The shot victims are Awami League leader Molya Hedayet Hossain alias Litu (50), a former member of Phultala Union Parishad (UP) Ward No. 4 in Khulna, Jubo League leader Khairuzzaman Sabuj (32), a resident of Damodar village, and Nashim Bhuiyan (28), a Jubo League activist from the same area.
It is known that the injured people came to Rajghat of Abhaynagar upazila around 8 pm on Friday and were chatting by drinking tea at a tea shop near the bus stand. At around 9 pm, two men wearing helmets on a motorcycle came there, fired several rounds at the three men and ran away. At the sound of gunshots, local people came forward and rescued them. Then they were taken to Khulna. Hedayet Hossain was shot in the stomach, Khairuzzaman in the face and stomach and Nashim Bhuiya in the hand.
Abhaynagar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shubhra Prakash Das confirmed the truth of the incident and said that no details are known about the reason and who fired the shots. Three people have been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
