Time TV turned off

In accordance with the directives of the High Court, the broadcasting of private television channels has been stopped. The satellite channel went off air after 11:59 PM on Monday (August 19). However, the online news portal of the television is active.

On this day, the High Court has ordered the suspension of broadcasting of Time TV for seven days. A High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Shashank Shekhar passed the order.

This order was given after the preliminary hearing of a writ filed by Samham Media Limited and its director Shampa Rahman. According to Supreme Court sources, the writ petition was filed this morning.

Advocate Ahsanul Karim and Advocate Farzana Khan Nila heard the writ in the court. Deputy Attorney General Faiz Ahmed appeared for the state. Senior lawyer AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon appeared for the managing director of Zaham TV, Ahmed Jobair.

According to the news published in the media, the meeting of the Board of Directors of Time Media Limited was held at the City House of Gulshan on August 10. Time TV's new managing director was appointed there.

According to a notice sent to the media, according to the decision of the board of directors, Ahmed Zobair has been relieved from the position of managing director and chief executive of Zaam Television. Besides, director Shampa Rahman has been given the responsibility as managing director. All the activities of Samham Media Limited will be conducted under the guidance of the new managing director.

Challenging the validity of this exemption, Ahmed Jobair filed a writ petition in the company bench of the High Court on August 14. The hearing is scheduled to be held on August 22.

On August 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country due to the anti-discrimination movement. When this news spread across the country, angry mobs attacked and vandalized several media offices including Saham TV. This temporarily shuts down TV. Later, however, Time Television came back on air. Then comes the ownership conflict. Finally it made it to court.
