Tree plantation and lake cleaning program of City Bank

City Bank, Gulshan Society, Dhaka North City Corporation and Rajuk jointly organized tree plantation program on Gulshan-Bada Link Road on Wednesday (June 5). This year Citibank organized this as part of World Environment Day celebrations.

Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Atiqul Islam and Chairman of City Bank Aziz Al Qaiser were present as the chief guest in the event. Barrister Omar Sadat Chowdhury, president of Gulshan Society, also present in the event were City Bank Managing Director and CEO Masrur Arefin, Rajuk Member Samsuddin Ahmed Chowdhury and members of Gulshan Society and senior officers of the bank.

Citibank has been taking various environmental measures as part of its social responsibility for several years. City Bank has planted lakhs of tree saplings in different schools of the country including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpanagar and Feni Economic Zone in Mirsrai. Like the last few years, this year also City Bank is celebrating the World Environment Day through various programs throughout the week.

City Bank launched Green Savings Account on February 18, 2023. As promised, the bank will plant one tree against each green savings account this year. A few account holders attended and planted their trees. Besides, actively participating in tree plantation program with Gulshan Society, the bank has started planting 5000 saplings from Wednesday.

In addition to the tree planting program to create a sustainable environment, City Bank has started working with Gulshan Society, Dhaka North City Corporation, Rajuk this year to restore and restore the water bodies around Gulshan to their former pollution-free state.
