Triplets Mom Taken Aback by Questions Other Children Ask About Her Kids

Kids have a habit of following their curious minds, and one mom got a grilling when she went down to her local playground this week.

Julia Platsman, a mother of identical triplet boys, took to TikTok to share some of the more refreshing questions she received from other kids, as opposed to the typical remarks she hears from other parents.

“I get asked the same five questions every single time I leave my house by anybody we run into,” the mom told viewers in her clip, posted under @theplatsman5.

Platsman recounted some of the most memorable questions she’s been asked recently, starting with one little girl who bluntly asked: “Why are there three of them?”

“I would love to know the answer to that too,” Platsman said. She then responded by comparing triplets to twins, but the girl just stared, struggling to comprehend the fact that there were three boys.

The second unexpected question came from a child curious about the triplets’ future: “Do you think their teeth will fall out at the same time?”—something Platsman hadn’t thought about just yet.

Another observant child at the playground noticed that the triplets hadn’t hit certain milestones at the same time, asking: “Why is one not standing up?”

Platsman later said that all of her boys are standing now, but at the time one wasn’t quite there yet.

Inquisitively, one kid asked whether they like the same things (which Platsman thought was “pretty cute”), such as their taste in food and toys.

“It was just very sweet that they already were wondering if these kids like the same things,” the mom of three said.

An 8-year-old candidly told Platsman, “That looks like a lot of work,” which she found amusing and refreshingly honest.

“When an adult says that, you’re kind of like, Oh God, yes, my hands are full…. But when she said it, I was like, You’re right, this is a lot of work.”

The fifth and final question was about how “together” the boys were in terms of playing and sleeping arrangements.

Platsman ended her video by saying how much she loves being around kids and seeing what they observe about her triplets.

“I’ve literally had so many adults come up to me and say ‘I’m so sorry’ as I’m out with my kids. Not from kids; kids are so excited to see it. They’re so curious.”

Platsman’s video has gained over 380,000 views and hundreds of comments from other social media users who also are fascinated by triplets.

One user shared an example of a question her child asked twins: “How do you get your shadow to look real?” Another commented that they loved the kids’ curious minds.

“Kids just give us the perspective that we all need,” Platsman said in her video. She added that hanging out in the park is her favorite thing for many reasons, but hearing what other kids say to the triplets is the top one.

“It gives me so much hope that the triplets aren’t going to be like the circus in school. The kids are going to like them,” she said.
