Truck loaded with Indian sugar seized in Netrakona

Police seized a truck loaded with Indian sugar illegally brought to Netrakona with the help of army personnel. However, despite seizing the truck, the police could not arrest anyone involved including the driver.

On Friday (August 30) morning, based on a tip-off, the police of Model Police Station seized the truck full of sugar from Ghajinpur junction of Sadar Upazila with the help of the army. This has been confirmed by the SI of Netrakona Model Police Station. Abdul Jalil.

According to local sources, Indian sugar was being illegally smuggled through the Netrakona border for a long time. Various gangs of smugglers are still active bringing down sugar from India through the Kalmakanda border. Sugar sacks are exchanged at different points of Kalmakanda and Sadar upazilas and reach different parts of the country by trucks.
