Trump Reveals Barron’s College Decision as Photos Capture Him on NYU Campus

Former President Donald Trump revealed his son Barron Trump’s college choice decision on Wednesday following months of speculation from his father’s supporters about his plans.

The Trump family had remained quiet about where Barron would be going to college after he graduated from Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida, in May. As the former president’s youngest child, Barron typically keeps a lower profile than his parents or siblings do.

On Wednesday, however, Trump broke his silence about Barron’s plans, revealing that he will be attending New York University.

“He’s a very smart guy, and he’ll be going to Stern, the business school, which is a great school at NYU,” Trump told the U.K.’s Daily Mail, adding that Barron was accepted into “a lot of colleges.”

A source with knowledge of the decision independently confirmed to Newsweek that Barron will be attending the New York City college.

Trump told the Daily Mail that Barron considered attending the University of Pennsylvania. UPenn was seen as a potential pick for Barron because the former president attended the Wharton, the business school there. Three of Barron’s half-siblingsIvanka Trump, Tiffany Trump and Donald Trump Jr.also attended UPenn.

“We liked NYU. I’ve known NYU for a long time, but it’s one of the highest rated,” Trump said. He described his youngest son as “very high aptitude,” adding that he is “doing great.” He will also continue playing soccer while in college, his father said.

Reached by Newsweek for comment, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign referred it to the Daily Mail article.

Meanwhile, photographs in the New York Post showed Barron heading to classes on his first day of college on Wednesday.

NYU is less than a half-hour subway ride from Manhattan’s Trump Tower. The school is also known for being one of the most liberal campuses in the country and was the site of pro-Palestinian protests in the spring.

Trump previously said those protests were a consideration for Barron while deciding where he would attend university.

“Six months ago, you look at a college and you sort of want a certain college,” Trump told Fox & Friends in June. “And then you see all of these colleges are rioting, and maybe you want to go to a different kind of a college. Because there’s plenty of colleges that we also like that are different and they don’t riot.”

Trump said in August that Barron would be attending school in New York but did not specify which college he would be going to.
