Two cases in two countries, 5 arrests

Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar has been killed in a planned manner. Cases have also been filed in both countries in this incident. Three people have been arrested from Bangladesh in connection with Anna's murder. And two people have been arrested in Kolkata.

On Wednesday (May 22), MP Anar's daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen filed a case of abduction with intent to murder at the Sherebangla Nagar police station in the capital.

Shere-Bangla Nagar Police Station OC Md. Ahad Ali said that a case has been filed against unknown persons. Now the accused will be investigated and brought under the law.

MP Anna lived in Sangsad Bhavan area. From there he went to India. So on the advice of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) chief Harun-or-Rashid, her daughter filed a case at Sherbangla Nagar police station.

On the other hand, a case of murder has been filed in Kolkata's New Town police station regarding the murder of Bangladeshi parliamentarian Anwarul Azim. It has been reported in the media that the police has filed this case as a plaintiff.

After being missing for the last 8 days for treatment, MP Annar was murdered in Kolkata – such news came on Wednesday. However, there is still confusion about whether his body has been recovered or not.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Newtown Police has seized a car suspected to have been used in the murder.

The forensic team collected samples from inside the car in front of Newtown police station. The owner of the car let the car be used on rent. The owner of the car went to the Newtown police station on Wednesday evening. Although he did not talk to the journalists there.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Police said that MP Anwarul Azim Annar went to the flat rented by the US resident.

West Bengal Police IG CID Akhilesh Chaturvedi gave this information after leaving Sanjiba Gardens in Newtown after the operation on Wednesday (May 22).

Akhilesh Chaturvedi said that the flat in which the parliamentarian had come, belonged to a person named Sandeep Roy. He works in Excise Department of West Bengal Government. He hired a person named Akhtaruzzaman, a US resident (expatriate Bangladeshi).

Anwarul Azim Annar was elected as Member of Parliament from Bangladesh Awami League in 2014, 2018 and 2024 consecutively.
