Two motorcycle riders were killed by a car in Faridpur

Two friends riding a motorcycle were killed when an unidentified vehicle hit them in Faridpur. The incident took place in front of the CCBL oil pump on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Suadi village of Algi union of Bhanga upazila at around 8 pm on Thursday (August 22).

The two deceased friends are motorcycle driver Babu Matubbar (23) son of Jhillu Matubbar of Sulna village of Algi union of Bhanga upazila and his friend Obaidur Mia (22) son of Moksed Mia of Chandra village of the same union.

Another motorcycle rider was injured in the incident. He has been admitted to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital. But his name is not known.

Talking to Bhanga highway police and locals, it is said that this evening, Babu Matbar was returning home with two other youths from Bhanga upazila Sadar Bazar via Dhaka-Khulna highway. On the way near the CCBL oil pump at Suadi village, an unidentified vehicle ran over the motorcycle carrying them. Two friends were killed on the spot. Local people rescued the rider on the motorcycle in an injured condition and took him to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex. When his condition deteriorated there, he was sent to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur.

Confirming the fact of the incident, Banga Highway Police Deputy Inspector (SI) Abdullahel Baki said that around 9:30 pm, the bodies of the motorcycle and the dead two friends were recovered and brought to the highway police station. Further legal action in this regard is under process.
