Two NASCAR Icons Set to Make a Huge Appearance at the Roval 400

The upcoming Bank of America Roval 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway will be an unforgettable event, as it prepares to welcome two NASCAR icons, Carl Edwards and Ricky Rudd, as Co-Grand Marshals.

This race will determine the crucial Round of 8 cutoffs.

Both Edwards and Rudd are set to be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025, a tribute to their enduring impact on the sport. Edwards, affectionately known as “Cousin Carl,” has amassed more than 20 race wins along with numerous crown jewel victories throughout his career.

“I have a lot of good memories and a couple of trophies from my racing days at Charlotte Motor Speedway,” Edwards said. “I’m looking forward to being able to relive some of those moments and make some new ones this year.”

Rudd, known for his nickname “Rooster” also boasts over 20 victories and is celebrated for his six road course wins during an era when such tracks were a rarity on the NASCAR calendar.

“Road course racing has always suited my driving style, so while I never got to race on the ROVAL™, I’m excited to get to Charlotte and see what it’s all about,” Rudd said. “Being able to see the race, visit with the fans and give the command is going to be really special.”

The significance of having these two titans at the Roval 400 cannot be overstated and aligns with NASCAR’s recent efforts to honor its history and celebrate the contributions of former drivers.

“Racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the fall always feels like a bit of a NASCAR homecoming,” said speedway President and General Manager Greg Walter. “This year, that will be especially true with Ricky and Carl returning as co-grand marshals.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun to see them interact with the fans and experience the thrill of ROVAL™ racing in the Playoffs.”

The role of Edwards and Rudd at the Roval 400 goes beyond ceremonial duties; it is a moment of shared history and respect for the sport’s icons. As they command the start of the race, it will be a brilliant reminder of how great this sport is.
