Two people including former senior secretary Shah Kamal are in jail


The court has ordered the remand of Shah Kamal, the former senior secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, and two people arrested in the case of Foreign Exchange Control Act.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tariqul Islam gave this order after the hearing on Friday (August 23). The other accused who went to jail is – business partner Md. Nusrat Hossain.

Earlier, after the five-day remand, the investigating officer of the case, Mohammadpur police station SI Mohammad Rezaul, produced the accused in the court and applied for their detention in jail. Following the plea, the judge ordered them to be jailed.

Incidentally, a team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested them on the night of August 17. On August 16, police raided the former secretary's residence on Babar Road in the capital's Mohammadpur and recovered foreign currency worth Tk 3 crore 1 lakh and Tk 10 lakh. Later on August 18, the court granted the 5-day remand application of the accused. Sub-Inspector of General Registration Branch Helal Uddin confirmed this information in Mohammadpur police station court.
