Two tourists died due to electrocution while visiting Khayachhara waterfall in Mirsrai, Chittagong. This incident happened on Tuesday (August 20) around 11 am.
Sifat Sultana, the doctor on duty at the emergency department of Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex, confirmed the truth of the incident and said that they died before being brought to the hospital.
The deceased are Anjan Barai (21) and Faisal Haque (22) resident of Chhota Sharifpur area of Lalmai in Comilla.
According to local sources, four friends from Lalmai in Comilla went to see the Khayachhara waterfall in Mirsarai. Since morning there was heavy rain in Chittagong and the water flow in the fountain was high, so they decided to come back instead of going to the fountain. On arrival, a tree fell on an electric pole on the way. The two were electrocuted by touching an electrified tree branch. The remaining two friends with the help of the locals rescued them and took them to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirsrai Police Station Sahidul Islam said, I have received the news of death in an accident in the shower. No details are known. Inquiring.
