'Unable to bear the torture of my wife, I left'

A schoolteacher named Nazrul Islam committed suicide by hanging a note saying 'I left without being able to bear the torture of my wife'. The incident took place in Haridrabaria village of Amtali upazila of Barguna on Saturday (September 7).

The deceased school teacher Nazrul Islam of Haridrabaria village. Khalek Khan's son. He was an assistant teacher of Amtali Sadar Union North Tiakhali Chobahan Biswas Secondary School.

It is known that Khadija, daughter of Dulal Bhuiya of the same village, got married to Nazrul Islam two years ago. Since their marriage, there was conflict in their married life. They have a one-year-old son.

Last Friday night there was a fight between husband and wife. On Saturday morning, wife Khadija Begum told her brother-in-law Ferdous Khan, 'I went to father's house, your brother beat me.'

Saying this, Khadija Begum went to her father's house. Around 10:30 am that day, locals found Nazrul Islam hanged with a mango tree. A note wrapped in Nazrul's clothes was recovered.

It was written 'Unable to bear the torture of my wife, I left'. A death case has been registered at Amtali police station in the case of suicide. After the incident, his wife Khadija Begum covered her body.

Teacher Nazrul Islam's elder brother. Fordous Khan said, his wife has been torturing my brother in various ways since marriage. Unable to bear his torture, he committed suicide by hanging himself. I want my brother's killer to be punished.

It was not possible to contact Khadija Begum to find out about this as she was wearing a veil.

Amtali police station OC Kazi Sakhawat Hossain Tapu said that the body was recovered and sent to Barguna General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
