University will continue without VC

After the fall of the government in the mass uprising of the students across the country, there were calls for resignations from the universities. Many are not returning to work. The university has become guardianless. In this situation, even if there is no Vice Chancellor (VC), the Ministry of Education has ordered to keep the administrative activities of the university running. Dean's council or department chairmen of the university will perform this duty.

Thursday (August 29) Ministry of Secondary and Higher Education Department Deputy Secretary General University Branch. This instruction is given in a circular made by Shaheenur Islam.

A copy has also been sent to Private Secretary to Education Adviser, Private Secretary to Senior Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education Department and Registrar of Government Universities.

It is said that Vice Chancellors, Pro-Vice Chancellors and Treasurers of various universities of the country are resigning and in many cases, it is seen that in some universities the Vice Chancellor and other officials are absent from work despite not resigning. As a result, due to their resignation and absence, problems are being created in many areas in the administrative and financial activities of the university.

In order to keep the administrative activities going and manage the financial activities until a regular VC is appointed, the University Dean's Council, in consultation with the departmental chairmen as the case may be, suggested that a senior professor should be temporarily given emergency administrative and financial responsibilities.
