US military threatens Iran over dating app

The US military has chosen a novel way to warn Iran and its proxies. The Washington Post reported that the US military has been broadcasting messages on the popular dating app Tinder across Lebanon not to take up arms against the US and its allies.

The message in Arabic said, “Do not take up arms against the United States or its allies.” The message also stated that the US would defend its allies against Iran and its proxies. A picture of the US fighter jet was also attached with such a message.

A US official with knowledge of the ad told The Washington Post that Centcom placed the ad. Although CENTCOM was asked about this, they refused to comment. However, threatening Iran and its proxies with ads on dating apps has not been digested by US officials.

According to the Washington Post, Tinder is the most popular dating app in the United States. But a number of officials and experts say that even if the warning is advertised on the platform, it will not reach many people. On the contrary, they described such actions of the US military as a natural mistake or originality.
