Iran may launch retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli or American assets in the Middle East in response to Israel's attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria. The United States is on high alert for such fears. Also they are preparing to face the attack. Reuters reported the information on Saturday (April 6) citing a US official.
On Friday, the official confirmed a report by US media outlet CNN, saying that an attack could happen next week and we are definitely on high alert.
Seven Iranian military advisers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria last Monday (April 1). Quds Force senior commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi is also among the dead.
Iran has said it has the right to retaliate against the attack.
US President Joe Biden discussed the Iranian threat in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday.
A senior Biden administration official said, 'Our teams have been in regular and continuous contact since then. The United States fully supports Israel's defense against the Iranian threat.'
Meanwhile, Israel's air defense system has been strengthened due to the fear of Iran's attack. The holiday of the Israeli army has been canceled since last Thursday.
