Upazila election in the third phase

Polling will be held on Wednesday (May 28) in the third phase of the Sixth Upazila Parishad elections. The Election Commission (EC) has already completed all preparations. Equipment sent to the center. However, due to Cyclone Remal and other reasons, elections have been postponed in a total of 22 upazilas. As a result, in the current phase, voting will be held in 8 thousand 55 centers in 90 upazilas of the country.

Meanwhile, a total of 140 thousand 861 members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Forces have been deployed to maintain law and order, ensure the security of polling stations and ballot boxes and maintain order in voting.

A total of 13 or more Ansar and VDP members will be responsible for the security of each center from May 27. Among them are 6 male and 4 female Ansar-VDP members led by a Platoon Commander (PC) and two Assistant Platoon Commanders (APC). If the number of booths is more than 6 in any centre, one additional Ansar-VDP member is deployed per booth.

PCs and APCs (3 persons) armed and Ansar-VDP members unarmed will be engaged in maintaining security and law and order at the polling station.

Besides 59 platoon (1742 people) Ansar battalion members are deployed as striking force to perform duty under the direction of District Magistrate. Ansar battalion members will be responsible in minimum section (10 per section) formation in case of duty in the striking force.

Besides, about 61 platoons (1840 people) of armed Ansar VDP members are working in association with the police striking team. Another 1723 members, including officers and employees, are performing duties at the field level to supervise the duties of the deployed members. All of them will be deployed for a total of five days from May 27 to May 31.

In the third phase of upazila elections, more number of law and order forces have been appointed than in the previous phases. No one can get away with violence. The Election Commissioner (EC) said that there is no problem even if one percent of the votes are read. Alamgir.

The date of polling in the upazilas which are closed due to the cyclone will be decided based on the weather and the opinion of the local administration. There is a vote for the fourth phase on June 5, may be on that day as well. In this case the local administration will depend on the opinion. If the local administration still says that elections are not possible, the elections will be stopped there.

In response to another question, the Election Commissioner said that there will be no impact on law and order. Because more law enforcement personnel have been recruited than in the first and second phases. But the turnout will depend on the weather. It is difficult to say whether the cyclone will have an impact or not. It is not possible to say how many effects have fallen in any place.
