He also said, apart from this, there is a fear of two to three days of moderate thunderstorms in the northern and central parts of the country and three to five days of light thunderstorms across the country. Monsoonal heavy rains in northern, northeastern and southeastern parts of the country in September may cause short-term flooding at some places.

According to the forecast, the Monsoonal Depression located over the West-Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off the North Andhra-South Orissa coast has moved northwestward and crossed the North Andhra-South Orissa coast and it is currently a land depression over South Orissa and adjoining areas. The extension of monsoon axis extends over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, low pressure center, Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh into Assam.
