WHO is concerned about the outbreak of cholera in several countries


The World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations health security body, has expressed concern over the outbreak of cholera in various countries around the world. This is what the international media said.

According to WHO estimates, 473,000 people were infected with cholera worldwide in 2022. In 2023, that number has increased to nearly 7 lakh. In the current year 2024, there are indications of further increase in this number.

Meanwhile, the global body has announced a large-scale testing program to prevent the outbreak of this deadly water-borne disease.

In a statement on Friday (April 5) local time, the World Health Organization said, 'The cholera global test program has been undertaken. Cholera test kits will arrive in various countries in the next few weeks. Initially, equipment will be sent to a total of 14 countries including Malawi, Ethiopia, Somalia, Syria, Zambia.
