Writ in High Court seeking ban and cancellation of registration of Awami League


A writ has been filed in the High Court to ban and cancel the registration of Bangladesh Awami League for the indiscriminate killing of students.

Executive Director Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan on behalf of human rights organization Sarda Society made the writ today (August 19).

In the writ, the names of the institutions which are in the name of Sheikh Hasina have also been sought.

Besides, the writ seeks a minimum term of 3 years for the current interim government to reform the country. Along with this, it has been requested to bring back 11 lakh crores smuggled abroad and to transfer the officials who were appointed on contractual basis during the previous Awami League government.

The Cabinet Secretary, the Secretary of the Public Department of the President's Office, the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Legislative Secretary, the Secretary of the Election Commission, the Secretary of the Bank and Financial Institutions Department, the Chairman of the National Board of Revenue, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, the head of BFIU and the coordinator and co-coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement have been made defendants.

The writ petitioner Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan said that rules and orders have been sought in these matters of the writ.

The application may be heard in the High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub-ul Islam.
