Bangladesh Army has arrested a youth named Jewel Tripura (28) with indigenous weapon LG rifle in Lama of Bandarban. He was arrested on Friday (April 26) night from the remote Naikxyongmukh area of ​​Rupsipara union in the upazila.

Jewel Tripura is the son of Anjaha Tripura, a resident of Lulaing village in Ghazalia Union of Lama Upazila. This was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lama Police Station, Shamim Sheikh.

According to law enforcement and local sources, the security forces raided the remote Naikxyongmukh area of ​​Rupsipara union in Lama upazila. During the extortion, a youth was arrested with a local LG rifle.

Some people who did not wish to be named complained that the arrested youth had been extorting money from the locals in Naikshanmukh area and surrounding areas for a long time under the threat of weapons. Jewel Tripura and some other terrorists used to extort money by intimidating people.

OC Shamim Sheikh said that the army has handed over a youth with weapons to the police after arresting them in connection with extortion, and a case is being filed against him under the Arms Act.
