15 crore hard stone Vishnu idol recovered in Munshiganj


Police recovered a Vishnu idol weighing about 37 kg in Rampal of Munshiganj Sadar Upazila. Its estimated market value is around 15 crore rupees. The idol was recovered from the road next to the cropland in Rampal's Khanka Dalalpara area around 10 am on Saturday (April 13). A farmer found the statue three days ago but tried to hide it.

The owner of the land is the son of deceased Afchan Dewan. Ripon said that on April 10, farmer Khorshed found the idol while cutting the soil of their crop land in Khanka Dalalpara area and took it home for assimilation. Later, when the matter was known, the farmer got scared and informed the police. Later, the farmer left the idol on the road next to the crop field.

He further said that the land was given to the farmer for Barga cultivation in return for annual deposit.

Hatimara police investigation center sub-inspector Enamul Haque said that the statue was recovered from the side of the cropland road after getting information. The archeology department will be contacted and the statue will be handed over to them. It is estimated that the idol weighing about 37 kg is worth 15 crore rupees.
