16 people died in road accidents across the country on Eid day. Among them, one in Gulshan in the capital, three in Kalmakanda in Netrakona, two in Panchagarh, two in Guimara in Khagrachari and two in Narsingdi. The accidents happened at separate times on Thursday (April 11). Most of them died in motorcycle accidents.

Dhaka: A woman named Mamata Shikder (27) died after being hit by a private car in the capital's Gulshan. The driver named Sheikh Zahid Kamal (30) was seriously injured in this accident. Both of them are working as officers of United Hospital. The accident happened on Thursday (April 11) around 3:30 pm at Gulshan 55 road. A CNG driver took the woman to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a coma, where the doctor declared her dead around 5:30.

Sabuj Mia, the CNG driver who was brought to the hospital, said, I was going around the airport area with my wife Farzana. Gulshan police station sub-inspector (SI) Ripon Kumar Biswas confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the motorcyclist who was hit by a private car on the Gulshan 55 road at around 3:30 pm died in Dhaka Medical. The motorcyclist is admitted to United Hospital with serious injuries.

According to the police, on Thursday afternoon, Shamim went out on a motorcycle with his friends. Meanwhile, he lost control in the motorcycle race in front of Dihi Kestpur Farm on Darshana-Hijalgari road. It hit a palm tree on the side of the road. Shamim was rescued and taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital in critical condition. From there, Shamim died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Narail: Two people were killed in a road accident when three friends from Faridpur went for a ride on a motorcycle on the day of Eid. Two others were injured in this incident.

The accident took place at Douyatla in Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday (April 11) around 8:30 pm.

The name of the deceased motorcycle rider is Alchaf Matubbar (22). He is the son of Asad Matubbar of Kumorpatti village in Saltha Upazila of Faridpur. Another pedestrian was killed. His identity is not yet available.

According to the police sources, three youths of Faridpur on their way to Narail from Faridpur with a motorcycle lost control and hit a betel nut tree on the side of the road when they reached Douatla area of ​​Sadar. Among the three riders on the motorcycle, Alchaf Matubbar died on the spot.

Locals rescued two others on the motorcycle and a pedestrian with serious injuries and took them to the hospital where the unidentified pedestrian also died while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, 5 people, including three members of the same family, died on Wednesday afternoon in Sardghat of the capital due to the torn rope of the launch. Three of the deceased are from the same family – Pirojpur's Mathbaria Md. Belal (30), his wife Mukta (24) and their four-year-old daughter Maisha.

Zahirul Islam, brother-in-law of deceased Belal's wife, rushed to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (Mitford) after hearing about the accident. He said that Belal worked in a garment factory in Gazipur. He lived there with his wife and daughter. They came to Sadarghat to go to Pirojpur by launch on the day of Eid.

He said that Belal's parents died long ago. He also lost his life while returning to the village with his wife and children on the day of Eid. There was no one left in Belal's family.

On April 11, around 3:30 pm, five people were killed when another launch rammed between two launches at Sadarghat. Apart from Belal's family, the others killed in the accident are Rabiul (19) of Thakurgaon and Ripon Howladar (38) of Patuakhali.
