Due to torrential downpours and heavy rains from India, severe flooding has occurred in the southern part of the country. People's lives have been disrupted. In this situation, 254 mobile network towers of different operators are still non-functional in 11 flood-affected districts.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has informed this information in a message on Saturday (August 31) morning.
Brigadier General Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, director general of the engineering and operations department of the organization, said that according to the updated information up to 9 o'clock on Saturday morning, 14 thousand 297 towers out of 14 thousand 551 towers are operational in 11 districts affected by floods. The rest have not yet been activated.
He also said that most of the defunct towers are in Feni district. Out of 653 towers in this area, 72 are still standing.
Meanwhile, apart from Feni, the other districts where telecommunication services were disrupted are Noakhali, Laxmipur, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Sylhet and Cox's Bazar.
