3 people died due to electrocution in flood water in Noakhali

In a separate incident in Noakhali's Begamganj, three people, including two rural electricity line-men and a school student, were electrocuted.

The deceased are Zakir Hossain (28), line-man of Noakhali Palli Vidyut Samiti and Md. Ibrahim (28) and Sabbir Ahmed (16), a class 10 student of Begumganj Textile Vocational Institute.

These incidents took place in Amin Bazar area and Mirwarishpur area of ​​the upazila in the morning and afternoon on Monday (August 26).

Locals said that lineman Zakir went to work on the power transmission line in Aminbazar area of ​​the upazila around 1.30 pm on Monday. At that time, he died on the spot after being electrocuted by a broken wire lying in the water.

On the other hand, in the afternoon, Lineman Ibrahim went to Mirwarishpur area of ​​the same upazila to start the power transmission line. There he was electrocuted due to negligence and died on the spot.

For the past few days, the student Sabbir was serving the flood victims who had taken shelter in the institute. He went home on Monday morning to find that his household goods were destroyed in the flood waters. Later, he died on the spot due to electrocution in the multiplug wire while moving household goods with his family members.

AGM of Noakhali Palli Vidyut Samiti Md. Mahbubur Rahman claimed that the substation of Palli Vidyut Samiti was already closed due to flood. On Monday morning, several customers were unable to turn on the power supply to their offices. Later in the afternoon, two linemen died on the spot after being electrocuted by the broken wires of the Electricity Development Board while checking the flood lines.

Anwarul Islam, OC of Begumganj police station, said that the police have been informed about the death of a lineman due to electrocution. The other victims will be inquired about.
