The Holy Hajj activities have started. Saudi Arabia is ready to welcome pilgrims from different countries. More than 85,000 pilgrims from Bangladesh have registered for Haj under government and private management. 38 thousand pilgrims have not received their visas even though the application period is about to end on Saturday (May 11).
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has already warned the private Haj agencies and insisted that they will have to take responsibility if they fail to secure visas for the pilgrims within the stipulated time frame.
Amidst this uncertainty, this year's Hajj flight operations have started from Thursday (May 9). Biman's first Hajj flight took off from Dhaka Airport for Jeddah at 7 am carrying 415 pilgrims. Saudia and Flynns also started operating Hajj flights from Thursday (May 9).
According to the Ashkona Haj office in Dhaka, a total of 1,676 pilgrims went to Saudi Arabia on four flights till 6 pm on Thursday (May 9).
This year 85 thousand 257 Bangladeshis will go to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. Out of this, Biman will carry 42 thousand 629 passengers and the remaining passengers will be carried by two airlines of Saudi Arabia.
