This year, 49 students from Shahid Smriti Vidyapeeth, an institution built by the late fiction writer Humayun Ahmed, took part in the SSC examination and 48 of them got GPA-5.
Asaduzzaman, the head teacher of Vidyapith said, 49 candidates participated in the SSC examination this time. All passed. Among them 48 got GPA-5. Among those who got GPA-5, 19 people are in science stream, 14 people are in business stream and 15 people are in humanities stream. Last year 70 students appeared from this institute. Among them 54 got GPA-5.
According to local sources, in 1996, Humayun Ahmed established this educational institution in Kutubpur village of Kendua upazila of Netrakona with his own funds. Later it started its academic activities in 2006. In the beginning, Humayun Ahmed himself used to pay the salaries of teachers and staff. Later in 2019 lower secondary branch and secondary branch in 2022 government MPO.
Kendua Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Imdadul Haque Talukdar said that the results obtained from a school in the village are exemplary. We will try to replicate their good results in other schools.
