60 km/h wind gusts may occur in the areas


Gusty winds of 45 to 60 kmph are likely to blow over 13 regions of the country. Therefore, warning signals have been raised in the river ports of those areas. The Meteorological Office has given such a forecast on Friday (June 7).

The low pressure extension extends from West Bengal to Northwest Bay of Bengal, the forecast said. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere in northern Bay of Bengal.

Meteorologist Md. Bazlur Rashid said that gusty winds of 45 to 60 kmph may blow over Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet regions. Therefore, the number one warning signal has been raised in the river ports of those areas.

Saturday (June 8) in most places of Sylhet division; Many places in Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Chittagong Divisions and two or two places in Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal Divisions with temporary gusty winds may experience light to moderate rain/thundershowers. Along with this, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may experience moderate or heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Day temperature may drop slightly in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and it may increase slightly in other parts of the country. Night temperatures may rise slightly across the country. Excess moisture can cause discomfort.

Meanwhile, mild to moderate heat waves are flowing over Khulna and Barisal divisions along with Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Kurigram and Chandpur districts and may continue.

Sunday (June 9) in most places of Sylhet division; Many places of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Chittagong divisions and one or two places of Rajshahi, Dhaka and Barisal divisions may experience light to moderate rain/thundershowers with gusty winds. Along with this, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may receive moderate or heavy to very heavy rainfall. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies.

Day temperature may increase slightly in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and it may remain almost unchanged in other parts of the country. Night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Excess moisture can cause discomfort. The ongoing heat wave may continue.

On Monday (June 10), light to moderate rain/thundershowers with gusty winds may occur at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and two or more places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Barisal and Chittagong divisions. Along with this, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may receive moderate or heavy to very heavy rainfall. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies.

Day temperatures may drop slightly and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Excess moisture can cause discomfort. Precipitation trends may pick up towards the end of the extended five days.

Meanwhile, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at Chuadanga at 38.5 degrees Celsius on Friday. The maximum rainfall was 54 mm in Chittagong.
