Upazila Parishad election campaign is going on in Muradnagar of Comilla. It has been alleged that local MP Jahangir Alam is trying to influence the government.
According to local sources, Member of Parliament Jahangir Alam Sarkar took part in a public meeting on May 10 in the afternoon of Fulgarh village of Andi Court Union. From the meeting, his son, chairman candidate. He wants votes for Ahsanul Alam Sarkar Kishor, which is a violation of electoral conduct rules.
Other contenders for Upazila Parishad said that the meeting is held every day at the house of Member of Parliament Jahangir Alam. Officer-in-charge of Bachura Bazar Police Station and Muradnagar Police Station were seen at his house several times.
As per the law, Jahangir Alam Sarkar is seeking votes for his son on various pretexts, even though he is not allowed to participate in the campaign. Contesting candidates in the Muradnagar upazila elections feel that a fair election is not possible if the local member of parliament is not removed.
