Seminars on child rights, sexual abuse, trafficking and protection have been conducted at Manarat International University. A seminar titled 'Red Heart Campaign to Promote Child Rights of Sexually Abused, Exploited and Trafficked Children' was held on Sunday (May 26) in the conference room of Gulshan campus of the university.
Manarat International University organized this seminar in collaboration with Sexual Violence Prevention Cell Center for Women and Children Studies. Member of the Board of Trustees of the University and Associate Professor of the National Institute of Mental Health Dr. Mekhla Sarkar was present as the chief guest. University Vice-Chancellor (Acting) Professor Dr. was present as a special guest. Muhammad Abduch Chabur Khan. Dean of the School of Engineering, Science and Technology and convener of the University's Sexual Abuse Prevention Cell. Professor Ishrat Shamim, president of Center for Women and Children Studies, gave a welcome speech in the seminar presided over by Nargis Sultana Chowdhury.
The chief guest at the seminar was Dr. Mekhla Sarkar urged the parents to be aware and said that you should keep an eye on where your child is staying, with whom he is talking and mixing. Children should be taught from an early age what contact is good and what is bad. Only then all unwanted incidents like sexual abuse will be reduced from the society.
He encouraged the students to focus on their studies, join cultural activities, play sports and socialize with people, saying that university time is a place for learning as well as intellectual development. You have to prepare from here on how to deal with the difficult reality that is coming in front of you after your studies.
Professor Dr. in the speech of the special guest. Muhammad Abduch Chabur Khan urged to reduce the dependence on devices to prevent sexual harassment and torture and said that device dependence is responsible in many cases for the unwanted incidents that girls are subjected to including sexual abuse. So, you have to trust and rely on someone after being aware and vetting carefully to minimize device dependency.
Ana Lucia Sandoval Orozco, an international researcher on child rights from Madrid, Spain, and Zooey Culpert, Europe program manager of the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children from the United States, participated in the virtual seminar.
