The pre-announced 'prayer and student mass' program of the anti-discrimination student movement was observed across the country. A heated situation was created in different areas of the country including the capital Dhaka around this program. At some places there were clashes, chases and shootings.

After the Friday prayers, the situation in the capital's Uttara became heated. There was a clash between the students and the police and Awami League activists.

The clash took place at 4:30 pm on Friday (August 2) in front of Zamzam Tower intersection and Sector 11 Milestone in Uttara. At that time, a young man wearing a helmet was seen firing at the protesters.

A video of the youth being shot after his helmet has also gone viral on social media. It can be seen that a young man wearing a red helmet on his head fired several rounds at the protesters. The young man's face could not be seen because he was wearing a helmet. Many students including students were injured. However, it was not possible to know the names of the injured immediately.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) says that no casualties or clashes have been reported in Uttara of the capital. There was a little trouble. The police didn't take it seriously. No one was arrested or harassed by entering any house.

DMP Joint Commissioner (Crime) Liton Kumar Saha said, “We have not received any casualty yet.” No such message. Our officers were there (answer). They said nothing happened.

In Uttara, there were allegations of shooting and assaulting the protesters with weapons, and the police were also seen being harassed.

About such accusations, he said, No, it should not happen. You can verify, the police are not doing these things now, the police are not doing any such work now. Police are not harassing anyone to arrest the accused. It will also be known if someone was there with illegal weapons or if there was a shooting incident. If the truth is found, action will be taken accordingly.

About the overall situation and security, he said, today the overall situation was normal. Police were everywhere with the protestors. They didn't do anything like that, the police didn't have to do anything either. Except Uttara.

So what actually happened in Uttara? What did you know? When asked, the joint commissioner of DMP said, we have received a complaint of vandalism in the SB office there (North). However, the field police officers in charge said that nothing major happened, the police did not see anything major in the situation there.
