A case has been filed against 148 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for killing a person named Liton Hasan Lalu alias Hasan in the capital's Mirpur during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Hasan's brother Milan filed the case in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan's court on Monday (August 19). The court directed the Mirpur Model Police Station to take the case as evidence.
Others who have been accused in the case are former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Member of Parliament Mainul Hossain Khan (Nikhil), Elias Molla, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, DIG Harun- Or-Rashid, Additional Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar, Dhaka North Awami League Member Secretary SM Mannan (Kochi).
The plaintiff's lawyer Iltutmish Saudagar confirmed the case.
It is alleged in the case that Hasan participated in the march on August 4 during the peaceful movement for the just and logical demands of the freedom-loving students in the country. Around 2:00 pm, 200/300 unidentified people along with other accused persons fired illegal weapons at the movement of students and mobs on the orders of Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Abdullah Al Mamun, Haroon-ur-Rashid, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Biplab Kumar and Habibur Rahman. Hasan was shot dead by a bullet fired by an unknown assailant. Hasan died on August 7 while undergoing treatment at Agargaon Neuroscience Hospital.
