Murder case against Sheikh Hasina-Sheikh Rehana in Rangpur

Another case has been filed regarding the shooting death of Sajjad Hossain during the anti-discrimination student movement in Rangpur.

Jitu Begum, wife of the deceased Sajjad Hossain, filed the case in Metropolitan Magistrate Amli Court, Kotwali on Tuesday (August 20) afternoon.

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana, former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Minister Hasanul Haque Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, journalist Subhash Singh Roy, former Prime Minister's Press Secretary Naimul Islam Khan, former Information State Minister Mohammad A Arafat and women's Awami League leader Apu Ukil have been accused of the order. In the case, 51 named and unknown accused have been made 300 people.

Plaintiff Jitu Begum confirmed the filing of the case.

Former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner (Compulsory Retirement) Md. Along with Moniruzzaman, there are police officers, former chairman of Rangpur Sadar Upazila Iqbal Hossain, lawyers, former public representatives, leaders and activists of Awami League and allied organizations.

It is said in the application of the case that the deceased Sajjad Hossain is a businessman. Last Friday (July 19) during the anti-discrimination student movement in front of Raja Ram Mohan Market in Rangpur city, the students clashed with other named and unknown accused on the orders of accused No. 1 to 10. Meanwhile, Sajjad Hossain was shot and died. Later, on the way to take his body to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for post-mortem, the plaintiff was stopped by the accused. His body was later forced to be buried without an autopsy.

Earlier on Sunday (August 18), three separate murder cases were registered in connection with the deaths of students Abu Saeed, Abdullah Al Tahir and fruit seller Merazul Islam. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud and 78 people have been named in these cases. Besides, 335 unidentified people have been accused.

Also, another case has been filed in connection with the murder of auto driver Manik Miah last Monday (August 19). Names of 119 people have been mentioned in that case, making Sheikh Hasina the main accused.
