43 upazilas flooded

A total of 1 lakh 89 thousand 663 families have been trapped in water in 6 districts due to sudden floods. At least 18 lakh people have been affected in Comilla, Feni, Chittagong, Khagrachhari, Noakhali and Moulvibazar districts so far. Along with that, 1 lakh 89 thousand 663 families have become watertight.

This information has been informed in the updated report of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief regarding the flood situation on Thursday.

It is informed that 43 upazilas of six flood-affected districts have already been flooded. Meanwhile, one person died in Fulgazi upazila of Feni due to drowning in flood water.

On the other hand, 17 thousand 882 people have taken shelter in 1 thousand 359 shelters opened to provide shelter to the stranded and victims. Besides, 3 thousand 486 cattle have been taken to the shelter.

According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, according to the information of the meteorological agencies, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the northeastern region of the country and adjacent upstream in the next 48 hours.

Besides, the water level of the main rivers in the north-eastern and eastern parts of the country is increasing. In this situation, the relief distribution program is ongoing in the flood affected districts.

Meanwhile, the army and navy are engaged in rescue operations in the flood-affected areas of Feni. According to the updated report of the flood situation, 160 personnel including 40 rescue vehicles from the army have been sent to Feni. Along with that, a water treatment plant has already been established. Besides, 71 members of the Navy are doing rescue work with 8 rescue vehicles. Apart from this, the program of bringing more boats including BGB is going on.
