Mirza Abbas wept profusely after being acquitted in the case

BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas wept bitterly after being acquitted of the corruption case. Afroza Abbas, wife of Mirza Abbas, was also present in the court when the verdict was pronounced.

Thursday (August 29) Judge of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6. Masood Parvez's court acquitted Mirza Abbas as the charges were not proved.

This senior leader of BNP spoke to the journalists after receiving the verdict of acquittal. He said, Awami government has taken away 17 years of my life. My family is all destroyed. Not only me, there are many activists like me whose lives have ended in jail. He also mentioned that Allah has judged the oppressive government.

According to the complaint of the case, Mirza Abbas has concealed the information of acquiring wealth of 7 crore 54 lakh 32 thousand 290 rupees and 57 lakh 26 thousand 571 rupees which is not consistent with the income. On August 16, 2007, Anti-Corruption Commissioner (ACC) Deputy Director Md. Shafiul Alam filed the case at Ramna police station in the capital.

On May 24, 2008, ACC Deputy Director Md. After the investigation, Khairul Huda submitted the charge sheet of the case. In the chargesheet, he has been accused of acquiring wealth of 4 crore 23 lakh disproportionate to income and concealing information of property worth 22 lakh rupees.

On June 16, 2008, the trial began with the filing of a complaint in the court. During the trial of the case, 24 people have testified.
