Bangladesh Bank has increased the amount of money withdrawal through check in any bank by another 1 lakh taka.
The central bank has set a cash withdrawal limit of Tk 5 lakh from Sunday (September 1).
Bangladesh Bank's decision has been communicated to all commercial banks on Saturday (August 31). At the same time, banks have been asked to comply with this directive citing 'security reasons'.
Last week, the central bank fixed the maximum limit of withdrawal of Tk 4 lakh through check from the bank.
After the formation of the interim government on August 8, the regulatory measures in banking transactions came. From that day, instructions were given not to withdraw more than Tk 1 lakh through check from the bank. Later it was increased to 4 lakhs.
Meanwhile, though no more than 5 lakh rupees can be withdrawn through cheque, there is an opportunity to transfer any amount of money in digital transactions.
Note that even though the journey of the interim government started on August 8, there are still security concerns in the transportation of cash. Apart from this, it is also feared that many people can destabilize the banking sector by withdrawing more cash from the bank. For that, withdrawal limit from bank is imposed. Although the limit is increasing every week. It is said that it will be completely withdrawn in the future.
