Democracy will be established: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, now the main task of the nationalist party in Bangladesh is to implement the ideals that the martyred President had dreamed and established. To establish the democratic system that Begum Khaleda Zia had started. At the same time, we have pledged to build the new Bangladesh that the Acting Chairman of the party is dreaming of, the work he is doing to build Bangladesh anew. I have taken an oath, no matter what the obstacles may come, I will face all the challenges to establish democracy in Bangladesh, establish a free market economy and work to build a prosperous Bangladesh.

He said these things after laying wreath at the shrine of martyred President Ziaur Rahman on Sunday. On the occasion of BNP's 46th founding anniversary, party leaders and workers from all levels flocked to pay their respects at the shrine of the party's founder.

Fakhrul said, after the fall of a terrible fascist government, the party was founded under the leadership of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the party's independence announcer, later advocate of multi-party democracy and shaper of modern Bangladesh, as the beginning of introducing multi-party democracy by bringing Bangladesh out of one-party rule. Martyr President Ziaur Rahman started politics to unite the entire nation with his vision. Taking people with him, he established a party with patriotic political parties that day. He gave a new direction to the nation through the 19-point programme. He presented a new dream to the nation.

BNP Secretary General said that Begum Khaleda Zia started the path of democracy by defeating the then dictatorship in 1990 with the students. Bangladesh Nationalist Party has been fighting and struggling for 15 years for the freedom we have achieved today in 2024. More than seven hundred leaders of the party have gone missing. More than two thousand activists were shot dead. False cases have been filed against 6 million people just for the sake of democratic struggle.

BNP Standing Committee Members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, AZM Zahid Hossain, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Abdus Salam Azad, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Convener Saiful Alam Leaders and activists of various levels of BNP and its subsidiary organizations including Nibar were present.

Bangladesh
