Top terrorist Rezaul arrested in Comilla extortion case

Rezaul Karim (40), a top terrorist listed by Comilla District Police, has been arrested in an extortion case.

A joint team of the army and the police station arrested him from his house on Saturday midnight. Son of Abdur Razzak of village Shamboxi (Ballavpur) of Sadar Dakshin Upazila of Rezaul District.

On Sunday afternoon, after he was handed over to the court, he was sent to jail without bail. Sadar South Model Police Station OC confirmed the matter. Alamgir Hossain.

According to the police, Rezaul is the top terrorist listed by the police. There are 30 cases against him, including the murder case of District Chhatra League leader Delwar Hossain, several murders, weapons, drugs, rape, robbery. On November 26, 2018, Shamboxi terrorist Rezaul and his accomplices of Ward No. 26 of Comilla city shot and killed Chhatra League leader Delwar Hossain in the head. After this incident, he fled to India for a long time. On the night of June 18, 2021, a patrol team of BGB arrested him with weapons and yaba while entering Bangladesh through Golabari border of Panchthubi Union of Sadar Upazila. Since then he was in Comilla Jail.

Locals said that recently the terrorist Rezaul came out of jail on bail and came to the area and was threatening the plaintiffs of the cases filed against him at different times along with demands for extortion.

Among them, a brick field owner named Azad Hossain of Kalikapur village of Jagannathpur union of Sadar Dakshin Upazila threatened to kill him with a demand of Tk 5 lakh.

Alamgir Hossain, OC of Sadar South Model Police Station, said that a person named Azad Hossain filed a case with the police station on the charge of extortion of Tk 5 lakh from the terrorist Rezaul after being released on bail. He (Rezaul) was arrested in that case and sent to jail.
