67 people including children lost their lives in the flood, more than 6 lakhs were trapped in water


The death toll, including children, has risen to 67 due to heavy rains and torrential downpours from India in 11 districts of the country's south-eastern region. Besides, 6 lakh 5 thousand 767 families are currently water-logged. The number of affected people is 51 lakh 8 thousand 202 people.

There are 42 men among the dead. Besides there are 7 women and 18 children. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief announced this information in a circular on Monday (September 2).

According to the notification, the flood situation in Chittagong, Khagrachari, Habiganj, Sylhet, Brahmanbaria and Cox's Bazar districts is completely normal among the 11 flood-affected districts. The flood situation in Moulvibazar has already improved. Also, the flood situation in Feni, Comilla, Noakhali and Laxmipur districts is improving with time.

The notification informed that currently 68 upazilas are flooded and the number of affected unions/municipalities is 504. Besides, 6 lakh 5 thousand 767 families are still water-locked. Besides, the number of affected people is 51 lakh 8 thousand 202 people.

Meanwhile, the number of dead, including children, has increased to 67 in this terrible flood in memory. Among the dead are 42 men and seven women besides 18 children. Among these, the highest number of deaths occurred in Feni. 26 people died due to floods in this district of southeastern region.

On the other hand, 17 people died in the flood in Comilla. Besides, 11 people died in Noakhali, 6 people in Chittagong and 3 people died in Cox's Bazar. Besides, a total of 4 people died in the floods in Khagrachari, Brahmanbaria, Laxmipur and Moulvibazar.

According to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, 3 lakh 6 thousand 741 people have taken shelter in 3 thousand 615 shelters till Monday. Besides, 472 medical teams are working to provide medical care to the victims of 11 flood affected districts. On the other hand, 32 thousand 830 cattle have been taken to safe shelter from the flood affected areas.
