After talk that a new contract extension between the Cincinnati Bengals and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was close, it seems that the two sides won’t come to an agreement before the start of the regular season. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that a deal is not expected to be reached before the season opener.

The status of Chase to play against the New England Patriots remains up in the air. He remains questionable for the game.

There was hope that a deal could be struck but this will have to go into the season and possibly next offseason now.
