Minister of Textiles and Jute Jahangir Kabir Nanak said that 11 organizations and institutions are being honored for playing a role in the development of the textile sector, achieving excellence, expanding textile education and increasing exports on the occasion of National Textile Day.
He gave this information at a press conference at the secretariat on Sunday afternoon.
The institutions and organizations selected for the award are- Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Bangladesh Specialized Textile Mills and Powerloom Industries Association (BSTMPIA), Bangladesh Cotton Association (BCA) and Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA).
Bangladesh Terry Towel and Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BTTLMA), Bangladesh Textile University (BUTEX), Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMA), Bangladesh Embroidery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BMEA) and Bangladesh Tanti Samiti are receiving the honour.
President Md. Sahabuddin will give awards to these 11 organizations and institutions at the main event of Textile Day at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on February 27.
In the press conference, Textile and Jute Minister Nanak said, 'Textile sector is the main foreign exchange earning sector of the country's economy. In addition to keeping the development of the sector dynamic in coordination with the stakeholders of the textile sector, the Directorate of Textiles is providing all the services of the sponsoring authorities at the fastest possible time through one-stop service.
Compliance is monitored and ensured through inspection of registered textile establishments developing and developing the textile industry. Currently, Bangladesh is leading the garment industry with 206 green factories of high quality.
