People from north-south region are returning home from their workplaces in Dhaka to celebrate Eid with their relatives. As a result, traffic pressure is gradually increasing on Bangabandhu Setu West Link Highway, Bogra-Nagarbari and Hatikumrul-Banpara highways. But so far, traffic congestion and slowness of buses have not been noticed on the northern highway. The vehicle moves at normal speed.
On Saturday (April 6) from 5 pm to 10 pm, the Bangabandhu Bridge West Link Highway's Koddar Mor, Nalka, Pachila, Hatikumrul areas have been investigated, but the number of passenger traffic has increased slightly but traffic is normal. As a result, people are returning home with relief.
Adequate measures have been taken to ensure smooth Eid journey in the northern region. Highways will be monitored by drone cameras to see the traffic situation. Ahead of Eid, members of highway and district police are performing duties at various points to keep traffic normal and safe on Bangabandhu Setu West Highway.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Setu West Police Station Abdul Quader Jilani said that working people have started returning home on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, a religious festival of Muslims. Due to this, the number of vehicles in the North Bengal-bound lane including Dhaka, Gazipur is gradually increasing. But so far no car has stopped anywhere. Vehicles are moving at normal speed.
Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MA Wadud said, 'Hopefully, there will be no traffic jam or suffering on the Bangabandhu Bridge West Link Highway this Eid Yatra. Three overpasses and a bridge in Sirajganj of the highway have been opened to ease the long suffering of the people of North Bengal during the Eid journey. This year's Eid journey will be completely worry-free and comfortable.'
